eligious Education for Children

Preschool Classes:

Sunday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Preschool classes are held for children who are three, four, and five years old prior to September 1. The program used for the preschool children, I am Special, published by Our Sunday Visitor, is designed to lead small children to an awareness of God and God’s love for them.

Each lesson is a blend of scripture, flannel board stories, crafts, and colorful textbook pages for each child. Parent letters are provided for each lesson to help each family participate in the learning process of their child.

Elementary Classes:

Sunday, from 10:45-12:00 noon

Children who are in first through sixth grades are instructed by catechists using the Faith First Program which is published by Resources for Christian Living (RCL).

The Faith First website is available to the catechists, parents, and children. The program instructs children in what we believe as Catholics and how to live out those beliefs. This is the process that Jesus used again and again as he taught his disciples.

Doctrine, Scripture and the Liturgical Year are woven together for the faith education of the children.

Central to all lessons is Jesus, as Lord, Savior, Friend.

Alternative to Sunday Classes:
Small home groups may be attended as an alternative to the Sunday Program. These sessions are usually held on a weeknight. Parents of children alternate teaching the groups.

The groups are designed so that the children meet every other week for 12 sessions. Two lessons are covered each session.

The parent-catechists instruct the children using the Faith First materials.
